Diary of a Downsize©

Rather than wallow in self-pity, I feel that if I share my feelings and the inevitable challenges that one faces through a "downsize", it will be therapeutic for me, and perhaps even helpful to others going through a similar experience.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, my "Mommy" (mother-in-law) and my ex-Mom-in-law. Last year we were not certain she'd be here to share Mother's Day with us again. She is, and we are blessed.

Happy Mother's Day to my Aunts who have always been like mothers to me. Happy Mother's Day to the friends I hold dear to me who are mothers. There are so many of them, in so many places, who are so wise, so strong, and so beautiful. I have learned much from sharing our paths down motherhood together. Thank you for that, and thank you for being here with me and for me.

Happy Mother's Day to the grandmothers who are no longer here with me, but whose memories I hold so dear. I want to pick up the phone and wish you a happy day, but clear thoughts of so many good times spent together will have to do. I love you.

Raising a teenage daughter is a challenge, but I know we are doing ok. My husband is a blessing in my life, being my anchor when the seas are rough. So finally, Happy Mother's Day to me.
